The story so far...
I was intrigued by visuals since the day I can remember myself, back in the 80's. Either it was anime or sci-fi movies, I always saw visuals as an extraordinary way of artistic expression. You may hear from other digital artists stating that Star Wars was a turning point in their lives, but for me, as I later realized, the same definitive effect had Robotech, an anime TV series. It wasn't just about the animation or the sci-fi theme. It was about the excellent concept of creating a living virtual environments. I had never seen anything so amazing in cartoons before and I was intrigued to learn all the secrets of this art... how to make fantasy worlds so real.
As early as the early 90's, I believed in the idea of the one man studio producing a professional quality media product. I couldn't actually do it, but the vision was there. At first I was just experimenting. I had a crappy PC and some very limited graphic tools and I just liked creating things while playing around. Where I lacked of experience I made up with determination - I didn't mind spending many hours each day in front of my computer screen, even if it wasn't paying me anything at the time.
In 1996 I went off to study Mathematics as my bachelor degree and from the beginning I saw this as a starting point to get involved in what I really wanted to do - work with computers. At some stage around this period, the amateur interest I had in digital art was transformed into a creative urge, initially producing "light-weight" (in regards to computer power) artworks, like electronic music and web design.
Dreamway was an old idea from the late 90's - to create a creative stomping ground for interesting computer-related visual projects. At the time very few people knew about the idea, mostly my immediate friends from Uni. The first Dreamway website was uploaded in 2001 and was under the Url4site.com domain. I used it initially to present the visual work that was producing for my music - but that didn't have the impact I was hoping for...
In 2002 I founded the SOHO business K&D Interactive (KDI) alongside with my girlfriend, to produce software and online services full-time, after Uni. A year later, in 2003, Dreamway was assigned to handle KDI's visual services, like 3D modeling, flash animation, logo and brochure design from the other graphic services. You might want to visit "MakeSites.CC" for more information in my web design expertise or even visit the KDI Network page for more information on the online services.
Soon after that Dreamway became the result of several people's ambitions and competence. A group of fellow developers were doing freelance work for the Dreamway projects. There were no stings attached and no control over each team member. Just a simple deadline when a task had to be finished. A lot of professionals were pleased to work that way because they could keep their day job and combine it with working in our projects. And this was the so-called Dreamway team.
Through the years 2003-2006, Dreamway created multimedia, particularly for CD-ROMs and DVDs, games, entertainment, websites, using a range of technologies. The portfolio was getting big but the projects were not becoming more advanced (in number or expectations). I honestly felt limited from my environment and with the fear of a pointless, unimaginative and routine future I decided to make a new start in a bigger market.
I returned to Australia, my birth country, in 2006, in the hopes for a quicker advancement in my field of expertise, digital arts. This of course had consequences in the way Dreamway worked, returning to the solo character it initially had. The website was redesigned and this 3rd version was focused in my skills and featured just my work.
Years ago I started with little resources and big dreams. I still feel I haven't reached my goals but I can surely say that I improve my skills with each project I complete.
